I did say I was going to post an update last week Friday and I shouldn’t have said that because I knew I had a trip that weekend, so my apologies for not coming through. I know it’s a few days late but here’s a very honest update on my very slow progress.
Day 5: 05 / 08/ 19
At this point, I was already so sick of seeing the mess in my room. I didn’t want to do any cleaning and fixing anymore. I didn’t touch any of the mess and pretended they weren’t there.
Day 6: 06 / 08 / 19
I started going through my clothes because that was the only thing I was okay with doing. I told myself I needed to do the tiniest bit of cleaning so I thought clothes would be a good idea. I put my clothes in three groups — first (the one on top): clothes I frequently wear. Second (those at the bottom): clothes I want to keep but don’t see myself wearing in the foreseeable future. And third: clothes I will be donating / reselling.
I currently have two big bags of clothes I no longer want to keep. I placed them out of my room because I am really really REALLY trying to have more space and seeing them inside my room while I’m trying to fix everything up is honestly quite demotivating. Once I’m done with all the cleaning, organising, and fixing, I’ll be going through these bags again.
Day 7: 07 / 08 / 19
No work. No progress.
Day 8: 08 / 08 / 19
While packing for my trip to Seoul, I was also trying to fix my room. I didn’t want to leave my room like a mess so I thought I would at least try to lessen the amount of stuff lying around. Which resulted to my room looking like an organised mess. And that kind of mess is dangerous because it makes you think everything is in place. One of my goals (hopefully before the month ends) is to find a permanent place for everything and to finally get closer to finishing this entire decluttering and reorganising journey.
This is where I’ll be placing my shoes but as you can see…it’s filled with random things. The snow globes and lights are there to stay mostly because I don’t want this area to look drabby once I put all my shoes there. There’s a bunch of notebooks, books, and random things all placed in there in a neat but unorganised way. I need to work on this ASAP because if I don’t, there’s a high chance it will stay that way for whoever knows how long.
As for this bar cart / storage rack (I really don’t know what it’s called LOL), is still a big mess. I haven’t figured out what I want to put in there, but one thing’s for sure — I’m going to keep it simple with as little stuff as possible.
Days 9-12: 09-12 / 08 / 19
Day 13: 13 / 08 / 19
I bought a few things from Seoul to help me organise my room and it makes me excited to get started again! I bought two clear books for all the paper I’m going to keep, two cups (holders? I don’t know exactly) one for my pens and markers, and the other one is for my make-up brushes. The last thing I bought is a photo album for all my instax photos. I used to post them on the wall or inside my closet but I think I’m done doing that.
Writing this is reminding me how far I am from finishing everything but I have to keep pushing myself and finish what I started. Honestly, there’s still so much left to do, I still have things around the house and I still have to figure out what I’m going to do with the stuff I’m getting rid of.
